Boy Genius

I let the boy watch the Canadian Broadcasting Channel before school. Partly because it's good, educational programs, partly because it reminds me of growing up in the Detroit area and watching the very same channel down there, and finally because I feel as though I am somehow supporting hockey by watching my Canadian broadcasting channel. lol.

But I digress....

In between programs they have this little kid (a different one each day) fly over Canada, and he is... "KID CANADA" Parents can send in a picture of their kids and they photo shop the face onto Kid Canada's body. So the boy was watching this and he says...

"Mom... I want to be Kid Canada."
I reply... "Ummm honey, you can't be Kid Canada, because we don't live in Canada."
"Oh. Where do we live?"
"America. But we have relatives in Canada."
"We Do? Where in Canada?"
"All over, mostly in Nova Scotia though. We have Aunts, Uncles, Cousins. Lot's of relatives."

I can see he's pondering this.

"Mom?"
"Yes?"
"I want to visit my relatives in Canada."
"Umm... well... it takes a looooooong time to drive, there, but maybe someday. I'd like to go back too."
"Ok. But mom?"
"Yes."
"I'm going to need some maps and 'rections."
"Excuse me?"
"You know.. maps and r'rections."
"Of what?"
"Canada!"


Seriously? what five year old ask for Maps and Directions to Canada? And for that matter, what kind of maps does he want? Ontario, British Columbia, Vancouver... come on...... When did this kid get so smart?
