My KINDERGARTENER got in trouble for cheating this week. Yeah... he copied his work from the person that sits next to him. It was rather challenging to attempt to explain to a five year old, why cheating is wrong. My analogy when a little something like this....
"When you take the answers off someone else's paper you're not going to learn how to spell the word. So when you get big and go to work for daddy, and daddy tells you to write a story about a Chicken, you're not going to know how to spell chicken, and then you won't be able to write the story."
His reply was
"Then daddy will not let me work for him."
My Reply...
"Right... so what have we learned here?"
Him
"Ummm.... learn to spell Chicken."
Me
"Right. We learn it on our OWN not by copying... right?"
Him
"Right."
It wasn't even 48 hours later when I found out he got a color change at school. So just to recap my son not only got in trouble for cheating this week, but also for punching another childs' lunchbox. **Sigh** such is life. So now... I sit... watching my son write five times on paper "I will stay on green this week."
Uuuuugh.
