Things That Amaze Me...

1. My beauty.

2. How many people in health care smoke! Seriously... you make a living telling people to be healthy.... do you not see the irony here? Or... even better... you're an oncology nurse on your smoke break, and when you're finished you go hang a bag of Chemo for your lung cancer patient. I have three words... Dubbya Tee Eff..... Seriously.

4. And while we're on the subject... It's not the smoker that I dislike. Heck, it's not even the smoking. If you want to fry your lungs go for it. I can't talk. I drink coke, and I'm sure that rots my intestines more than your cancer stick. The thing that gets me is the way that if I'm within 100 feet of a smoker somehow that smell finds its way to my outfit, and thus follows me throughout the day, week, or year, until I find time to do laundry, ergo making me smell like a smoker. I think, yeah... I think I'm just going to develop a nice lavender smelling cigarette. That way... you can smoke and you're happy, and I can roam the earth and smell like lavender, and I'm happy! And after all... haven't we learned it's ALWAYS about me, and making ME happy!

5. Stupid people. I mean... seriously... how on earth do you make it through life when you're so... incredibly... STUPID? If the instructor says EVERYTHING has been moved back ONE week. Why, then would you think that the test that was scheduled for NEXT week would stay put. And for that matter, when you're tweedle dum buddy says... "Even the test." and the instructor says, "Yes, even the test." Why 2 minutes later do you feel the need to say... "So then next week... what is our test going to be over?"

6. Hillary Clinton. I don't know how she does it, but if I had HALF the hypnotic power that woman has, the world would be my oyster. Seriously, it's like... she has that little ink pen that the Men In Black carry, and she can do as she wishes and then erase America's memory and reprogram them to get a new hairdo, redo the living room, and buy some new clothes. Amazing.

7. LOST. Seriously, is there a better show on TV? I think not!

8. How one person can influence you long after they're gone. Be it a long lost love, a long lost grandparent, or the clerk at the corner store. They define love for you, they embody what you want, miss, or hope to have, or their words of wisdom ring in your ears everyday of your life and usually... they don't even know it.

9. The power of relationships. (friends, family, or otherwise)

10. How even on the worst day known to man, one hug from my boy makes it all ok. And in addition to that how much LOVE I have for that child. Seriously, I knew I'd love my baby... but this... this is like... crazy. I mean... I understand now why Guppies eat their young. It's because they love them so much they just can't help it! --Wait a minute--- that sounded better in my head.

11. Raspberry flavored Green Tea. No other drink has had the power to pull me away from Coke such as this... lol

12. Snow.... MAKE IT STOP

13. How the week of Christmas my unemployment check came in no less than three days, yet every week since (When there has NOT been a holiday) it has somehow managed to take more than eight. (Actually current count for this check is TEN DAYS!) **Sigh**

14. How you can study for 8hrs a day over the weekend, and at least one hour per night, and still look at a test and think... WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT???

15. Yet on the same test... throw out a medical term and I can nail it. Don't ask me where the "Link" in the chain of infection with a Foley bag is... but ask me what nephromegaly is and I'm all over that.

16. How I just don't feel my day is complete if I haven't had one gut busting, doubled over, laugh till my face hurts moment. (and if I havent... how I come up with things to entertain myself... like blogging.)

and btw... I was totally kidding about my beauty.

sorta

Bwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I used to take Spanish classes with a friend of mine, Jason, who was an EMT and also a nurse at Port Huron Hospital. He smoked. And he said everyone in health care did.
Why? He gave me 2 reasons.
1. You have to do something to counteract the stress that the health care system puts on you.
2. It at least enforces that you will get regular breaks without any attitude.

In case you were curious. :)
