So where is the line between being a good Christian and being a doormat? In this particular instance I'm thinking about lawsuits.
Here's the issue in a nutshell.
Person A has legal recourse against Person B. (Thank you basic algebra) Both people are Christians, but B has wronged A, and A wants to seek action against B.
Is it wrong for A to sue B? Does it make A less of a Christian? Should A just leave it and trust the Lord to take care of business? What about consequences? I mean each action has consequences, right? So where is the line? When do you step up and take care of business, and when do you let God take over?
Thoughts? Opinions? Let's hear them.
Personally, I say we all just spill some hot coffee on ourselves and sue the daylights out of everyone, then we can all go shopping!

Without revealing to much personal info here... I went through a situation where someone had done me wrong. I wasn't sure how to pursue or to pursue it... I went to my pastor and asked. He told me that we are to hold people accountable for their actions. Being a Christian doesn't mean we are a doormat. If you feel you were wronged then check it out. Find out your options and talk to someone... like a trusted minister about it... then make a decision.

Since I work for attorneys, the best advice I can tell is that if you file suit against someone, then you open the door to your life. Our office represents entities that are sued and that allows us to dig into the lives of these people so deep. It depends on what type of lawsuit you are talking about, but you will have to be prepared for the other party to find out everything they can about you. They might even hire a private investigator to dig up info, depending on the nature of the suit. Call me if you want to talk about it.

I really don't know exactly what to tell you, except what it says in I Cor. 6. I used the ASV because it was easier to read than the KJV.
"Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? 2 Or know ye not that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have to judge things pertaining to this life, do ye set them to judge who are of no account in the church? 5 I say this to move you to shame. What, cannot there be found among you one wise man who shall be able to decide between his brethren, 6 but brother goeth to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?
7 Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded? 8 Nay, but ye yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.(ASV)"
The thinking is that you take the legal action before the saints first. Many would suggest you collect your information and take it before the other believer's(person b) spiritual leadership(i.e. pastor/elders/deacons). Hopefully you they could help.
If not, some people, like the Money Matters guy, would say that you did your part and allow God to do his. He will bless you in other ways. Beyond that, I don't know. Maybe then you would take legal action.
