So, today was employee appreciation day at work. We got a free lunch that was a NY Strip steak, a baked potato, salad, and lots of dessert. LOVED IT! I kept telling everyone I had never felt so appreciated. lol. Anyway on top of that I got to partake/learn two new things... which always makes me happy.
1. I saw a wet/dry wound vac in action. Basically what it is, is when you have a really bad wound that got infected, they stuff some foam in the wound, and over the wound. Then they tape it to you, and tape this hose to the top of the foam. Then the hose hooks to the vac machine and it sucks out all the infection. Way super cool, way pungent, but way cool.
2. I got to board a few surgeries. Sure, this may mean nothing to you, but to me it was pretty cool. I mean I called the patients, got a health history, set up their procedure, and then pushed a bunch of paper work around until OR got it on the board. Fun stuff. Not as fun as a wound vac, but fun none the less.
It was yet another good day, almost as good as yesterday, but not quite. Only because Taco Bar/Cake day only comes, but once a year. Taco Bar/Cake Day followed by Employee Appreciation Day..... once a life time. Taco Bar/Cake Day, preceded by Cheese Omelet/Red Skin Potato Breakfast, followed by Employee Appreciation day... in an Urban Legion.... until THIS WEEK!
Seriously... it was the best week EVER!
