I had my first roadkill victim today. Ok, I've hit birds before, but I don't really count those are roadkill because a) they weren't on the road to begin with and b) if you have wings and are able to soar ABOVE the flow of traffic, yet choose to fly into the pathway of an oncoming vehicle.... you deserve to be hit! Then there was the one time I saw a deer, and I STOPPED my car, and I swear to God that deer looked at me, laughed, then bounded out of the ditch, turned around kicked out my headlight, then bounded away. Laugh all you want, but I'm telling you that is EXACTLY how that went down!
Anyway today was my first official, count it as roadkill, domestic animal casualty. It was horrible. I ran over a cat. Not just any cat, but a cat that was probably under a year old, probably little Timmys pet fluffy, and probably the nicest animal ever. And of course this is my FIRST roadkill in the 16yrs since I got my license!!! I cried the whole way into work. This stupid cat just ran out in front of me and stopped. It was smack in the middle of my car so I couldn't swerve either way or I'd catch it, my only hope was to drive OVER it, and hope that it stayed in the middle of the car. Well it didn't. The stupid thing moved. TO MY SIDE.
**sigh**
Seriously... how long does the curse of the Friday the 13th deer last????!!!

Seriosuly the deer didn't even come to your house on FRI the 13th it came on SAT the 14th. I don't think there is anyting bad about that and as for the cat. GOOD RIDENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thats all love.
Uhhh... the FIRST appearence of the deer was FRIDAY the 13th when it crossed my path!!!! Read the blog sister! THEN it re-appeared on Saturday.
and I knew you wouldn't care about fluffy! You cold, heartless.....
My sister hit a Husky with her jeep once and then went and told the owner. It ran out in front of her, so it wasn't her fault. She said it was so sad to tell them...if I remember correctly, the father carried it away as the son watched...they were all crying.
It was the right thing to do...
So, did you stop and try to find the owner?
Awwwww... that's just CRUEL!!!! I wanted to stop and tell the owners, but it was 530 in the MORNING... and it ran out from the tree line, so I didn't know where to even START to knock on doors. I mean, there were houses close by, but there were like 10 of them. So was I supposed to knock on doors at 530???
Wow... the guilt complex you lay on me. I actually DID contemplate it though. I thought about stopping, but I was like... well... it's 530... ugggggh.
Sister... I may need to borrow a prozac today....
I hit a dog once, I wasn't going very fast after i hit it i stopped then it got up and ran off. I feel really bad for you, i hate running over anything. I will slam my brakes for squirrels. Unlike my hateful sister i really LOVE cats...What a week you have had...:-(
HEY I"M NOT HATEFUL!!!!!!!!!!! (just towards cats!!!!) AND if you had a SCAR on your face you would be too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"The Butcher of Karen Woods"
It happens. I hit a chipmunk on the way to my dad's today right in front of Rene's house.
Ouch. That's tough hitting a little kitten! I would cry too. I hit a seagull once. And similar to your deer story, I swear the think looked up at me a smiled. I had no where to swerve and too short of time to slam on my breaks, so I ran right into it. Saw a poof of feathers behind me driving away and an old man flicking me off. Now I swear all the seagulls are out to get me. They all look at me funny with shifty eyes.
Kerry i love ya....Even if you are HATEFUL:-)
Wow! I hit a bird once and cried the rest of the ride. I feel bad for you... that had to be horrid!
