Rebel

On my way into work today I heard Rock the Cradle of Love by Billy Idol. It was the first video I ever saw on MTV... Hey my parents moved me to thunderbolt country... there WAS no cable. So I had to wait until I got to the big city where we used to live, to sneek a peek at the debauchery that was rock and roll. It was AWESOME! It was funny because I remember being a bit uncomfortable with the whole rock the cradle of love song, the drums... the rock... the roll... Soooo risque and all. And the video... which the chick "Can you please play my song, my stereo is broken." and the hilarity that ensued. Plus it was Billy Idol... *GASP** sooo wrong.

It just cracked me up because I heard it today and I turned it up and tried to rock out to it, only to realize... wow... this song is kinda... slow. Heck I expect to hear it on MUZAK when I go grocery shopping.

It's just funny how time changes your perspective.

I remember a video my parents had back in the day. Called something like "the dangers of rock music..."

it was a 2hour tape FULL of songs and showing how backmasking was used....I used to watch it just to hear the music hehe.

BUT, i never understood this. At one point the speaker turns on the beginning of Beat It. He plays first few stanzas and then presses pause. He asks the audience if anyone can identify what song it is. A lady does.

He proceeds to go on and on about how they are subliminily affecting our minds and all this crap.....How people know what song is being played before it is actually played...

Uh, if you played the beginning of happy birthday, or jesus loves me, or kumbya-----we would know that too...... do you get what I'm saying??? Just strange theory!!!

Just me said...

We had that SAME movie. I think it was Standard issue to all Community Baptist Parents! :) We should get togehter and watch it. My dad still has it... it could be fun! :)
