Slimy, Scaly, Things

Just to go the extra mile to make up for the laziness on Saturday, we got home from church Sunday watered the flowers, did some yard work, and then went fishing. I let the little guy ride his bike up to the river, I walked. Now... I just did not have the patience to actually go about touching bait yesterday. --hey I'm working up to that-- and while I can manage the bait thing, (but choose not to) :) my complete and total fear is that he will actually catch something and then I will have to deal with a *gulp* fish.

I mean... they're slimy (I'm guessing) and wiggly, and I'm not so sure I want to touch one, let alone dig a hook out of it's body and throw it back into the water.... uggh. Well the plan was after the picnic to call his father and go fishing for REAL since it was free fishing weekend. But that did not work out. So it was me and the boy. We road/walked down to the river about a 1/2 mile from the house, crawled down the embankment and sat on the hill and he cast and cast and cast that rod for about an hour.

He LOVED it. I had tied a little red fish on the end of the pole, so he essentially caught a fish each and every time he cast... but I can tell I am definitely going to have to buy my sorry self a fishing license and get some bait, and real hooks. Of course it will be the fake bait. The jelly worms... hey at least I can skimp on that right? Then hopefully he won't even catch a fish....

**sigh** who am I kidding... I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I'll be out fishing and it will be like against the law... I'll be fishing in a no fishing zone... whatever. The boy loves it, and if you could of seen his little face as we were sitting there and he was just a fishing away... yeah... I'm going to have to suck it up... **sigh** let me just whine here one minute and say eeeeeewwwwwwww..... ok... I'm over it. I think I'm going to have one of the guys at work give me a crash course in fishing. By that I mean... how to tie that fancy little knot at the end of the line, what is ok and not ok, and what is the best way to NOT catch fish. :)
